After more than nineteen years working across finance, accounting, tax, reporting and business operations, I repeatedly saw the same problem.
Businesses had software, accountants, spreadsheets, reports, bank statements, messages and task lists. Yet owners still struggled to answer one basic question:
What is truly happening in my business, and what should I do next?
Maliyati was created to answer that question.
The gap between accounting and operating a business
Accounting systems are essential, but a business does not operate inside a financial statement. A late customer payment affects cash. Purchasing affects inventory. A stock variance affects margin. A missing document affects compliance. A delayed task affects execution.
These events are connected in the real business but separated across multiple systems. Owners receive reports after the fact while the conversations and decisions behind the result remain elsewhere. I believed we could build something better: a finance-led environment that preserves professional control while following the complete operating story.
Why the name Maliyati matters
Maliyati reflects a direct relationship with finance, but its purpose is larger than bookkeeping. The name represents the financial brain and operating memory of the business—the place where evidence, movement, responsibility and insight come together.
From the beginning, the ambition was not to copy an international accounting product and add a Saudi setting. Maliyati had to be Saudi-first in design, Arabic-aware in statutory output and practical for the diverse people running SMEs every day.
Saudi-first, not Saudi-added
Saudi Arabia is undergoing profound business and digital transformation. SMEs need systems that support this direction without making compliance feel separate from ordinary work.
Maliyati begins with the Saudi operating reality: VAT, Arabic statutory requirements, ZATCA-oriented invoicing, evidence, controlled posting and auditability. Passing the ZATCA sandbox flow was a meaningful milestone because it moved Maliyati beyond a concept and through a controlled transaction-and-response process.
Why Maliyati is an operating system
Maliyati connects five layers:
- Finance establishes the truth.
- Compliance protects the business and its evidence.
- Operations explain what physically happened.
- Execution assigns responsibility and follows action.
- Intelligence explains the blockage and guides the next decision.
Each layer strengthens the others. A business moves from recording the past toward controlling its future.
Designed for the owner who is not an accountant
Financial professionals understand ledgers, reconciliations, controls and reporting structures. Most owners should not need that training merely to understand their own company. Maliyati preserves the depth accountants require while telling the owner what changed, what needs attention, where cash is blocked and what should happen next.
Business Doctor: turning symptoms into decisions
The Business Doctor concept grew from another recurring experience: companies often know the symptom but not the cause. They know cash is tight, but not whether pricing, collections, purchasing, inventory or spending created the pressure.
Maliyati Business Doctor is intended to connect the evidence, explain the issue in plain language, recommend action and measure whether that action worked. The objective is not artificial intelligence for its own sake. The objective is a more capable business owner.
Built for trust before scale
Trust is the most important asset in a financial system. Maliyati therefore uses review before posting, locked posted records, traceable changes, separated company data, controlled advisor access and preserved evidence. Speed matters, but speed without control creates new risks.
Maliyati must earn the right to become central to a business.
The Maliyati mission
Our mission is to give every SME the clarity and control to lead. We are building Maliyati to unite finance, compliance, operations and accountable execution in one trusted, multilingual operating system.
The Maliyati vision
The long-term vision is a complete business ecosystem built on that trusted operating foundation. The journey begins with the Business Operating System and can expand, in controlled stages, toward merchant services, collection support, market intelligence, procurement intelligence, commerce support and total business intelligence.
Subject to necessary permissions, licensed structures and approved partners, the longer-term direction may include a Maliyati business wallet and regulated financial capabilities designed around the operating needs of SMEs.
We will not call Maliyati a bank before it is one. The vision is ambitious, but the sequence matters: establish trust, prove the operating system, connect the business and pursue regulated capabilities responsibly.
A founder-led commitment
Maliyati is not being built from a distant theory of how SMEs operate. It is shaped by years inside real financial records, tax requirements, cash pressures, reporting deadlines and owner decisions across different markets.
That experience creates a simple commitment: every Maliyati capability should solve a real business problem, make the truth clearer or make responsible action easier.
There is still much to build. But Maliyati has already moved from an idea to a working product with finance, compliance, reporting, multilingual foundations, a guided demo and a proven ZATCA sandbox flow.
MALIYATI. BORN TO LEAD.
The journey is now visible.
